MEET OUR ROBOT
Our robot, Ares, consists of several mechanisms that allow it to efficiently complete Freight Frenzy tasks. They are the rubber tubing, dual outtake, and drivetrain. The robot is constructed out of REV pieces, 3D printed parts, and polycarbonate panels. We utilize these different materials based on where they work best. All of these components made it possible to score efficiently and in a precise manner in order to maximize points earn, and limit the amount of penalties received.

Dual outtake
Our dual outtake mechanism, is a two-path system, in which one allows for the freight to go up a rail and be deposited on the highest level of the alliance shipping hub, while the other path allows the freight to go directly through the robot bypassing the time it would take for the freight to go up and out of the rail.
Rubber tubing
We created a prototype of each mechanism to test out which intake worked the best. Through much trial and error, we used a prototype to come to the conclusion that the surgical tubing intake was the most consistent, and also the most efficient.
Drive Train
We have an Omni and Stealth drivetrain that allows the robot to move efficientely. The Omni Wheels allows for the robot to move smoothly and make sharp turns easily, while the Stealth Wheels ensure its stability.
